The Phantoms

“When Kam first mentioned a Ski Lab ski for me, I knew I wanted a mid-winter touring ski. Something with good float, easy to turn, but not so much sidecut that they wouldn’t run fast and straight if I wanted them to. Tip rocker was a must, since I’d felt like a superhero the one time I’d been on a ski that had some.

When it came time to pick a name and some graphics, I decided to make them a reminder of the luck and good fortune I’d had when I survived an avalanche the year before, on the Phantom slidepath of Mt. Snoqualmie in the Cascades. They help me keep it all in perspective and remember what’s most important about any day in the mountains – getting out for another one.”
